1.1This test method provides a procedure to quantify six phthalates by solvent extraction of plasticized PVC articles followed by analysis of the extract by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. The phthalates which are quantified are BBP, DBP, DEHP, DNOP, DINP, and DIDP.
Note 1:The method can be extended to other phthalates.
1.2Within the context of this method, low level is defined as 1000 ppm.
1.3The values in SI units are to be regarded as standard.
